Weekend adventure in which we seed a lawn and repair a fence

I am not the handiest person around. Neither is Mr. Snowgoose, but lord knows we try. We didn't do any home improvement projects to our new home really until my parents came to visit 5 months after we moved in.

Recently I've been struck with the spring cleaning/project bug, partially due to disasters the puppies have created and partially to prevent future disasters. Last weekend I decided it would be a great idea to reseed the back lawn. Mind you, our backyard is really a patio full of containers growing vegetables and 125 square feet of mulch. So we removed the mulch and put down seed so that later this summer the puppies can roll in the grass instead of eating mulch and digging in the dirt.

This is coming from the girl who once said, "I don't do yardwork."

So after spending Saturday night and Sunday morning on the lawn, I decided it was time to tackle project #2: repair my fil's fence. We had taken the puppies to Mr. Snowgoose's house a few weeks earlier and Lovely Lola and Little May West (also known as MayGuyver) managed to squeeze through holes in the fence and run around neighbor yards.

I thought the project would last one day. Nope. It took me three days (one of which had Mr. Snowgoose assiting) to puppy-proof the yard. Who knew I was so handy? (Insert joke about who wears the toolbelt here). Despite the fact it took longer and cost more than I anticipated, it was far easier than I imagined hauling all those boards in Guther and carrying them around. I guess all those bootcamp sessions paid off.

Mr. Snowgooses's idea of repairing the fence:

My idea:

The end result: Happy puppies

Lola is looking big and Mae tired....guess she does not like "outside" work either. But now you have 2 to pick up your sticks for you.

what, no comment about how handy I've become?

The dogs are excellent diggers too!
